Metrobus and Metrorail
The Metro system is the regional bus and rail public transit system in the Washington, D.C. area, operating in D.C., Virginia and Maryland.
SmarTrip Card (card only, no stored value) ($2.00)
- A permanent, rechargeable farecard that can hold up to $300 in Metrorail value. The card costs $2 and can be recharged at Metrorail farecard machines. Also accepted on all Metrobus routes. No value included.
SmarTrip Card with 7 Day Short Trip Pass ($42.50)
- SmarTrip card including pass valid for seven consecutive days of unlimited rides on WMATA Metrobus and Metrorail for trips costing up to $4.00 when peak fares are in effect. During these times, if your rail trip costs more than $4.00, the additional charge will be deducted from the SmarTrip® card's stored value. There is no charge for rail trips at other times. Pass is activated the first time it is used. Price includes $2.00 charge for the SmarTrip card.
SmarTrip Card with 7 Day Unlimited Pass ($62.75)
- SmarTrip card including pass for 7 consecutive days of unlimited Metrorail and Metrobus travel. Pass is activated the first time it is used. Price includes $2.00 for the SmarTrip card.
SmarTrip Card with One Day Pass ($15.50)
- SmarTrip card including pass valid for one day of unlimited Metrorail and Metrobus travel; no time restrictions. Pass expires at the end of the operating day: 3 am on weekends, midnight on weeknights. Price includes $2.00 charge for the SmarTrip card.
SmarTrip Card with stored value of $28
- The SmarTrip® card can be used for fares on Metrobus, Metrorail, and regional bus systems, and to pay for parking at Metro-operated parking lots. The card comes preloaded with $28.00 stored value.

- The SmarTrip® card can be used for fares on Metrobus, Metrorail, and regional bus systems, and to pay for parking at Metro-operated parking lots. The card comes preloaded with $8.00 stored value.
